The show was Coward's last fully written musical.The Broadway production, opened on October 3, 1961 at the Broadhurst Theatre, where it ran for 167 performances. Coward directed the production, and the cast starred Elaine Stritch. The show was then staged at the Savoy Theatre, in London's West End in 1962, where it ran for 252 performances (also starring Stritch and directed by Coward), and at Her Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne, in 1963.
